Um Ji-won Shares Remarkable Recovery Journey After Major Surgery
On the 12th, a video titled "Um Ji-won Begins Walking Two Weeks After Major Surgery, Unveiling Her Beast-like Recovery" was uploaded on the 'Umjeewon Umjeewon' channel.
In the video, Um Ji-won shared her ongoing rehabilitation therapy. She was seen training on anti-gravity equipment, explaining, "Currently, only about 40% of my body weight is being supported." She added, "I can only put about 30% of my weight on the injured foot. Normal walking is possible when both feet are balanced and can bear 100% of the body weight."
When the production team mentioned the weight difference between her feet, Um Ji-won said, "Initially, I couldn't put any strength on the injured foot, but now it's much better."
However, she admitted that the pain still lingers. "It still hurts. There's a pain that feels like lightning striking," she candidly shared about her current condition.
After completing rehabilitation, she shared glimpses of her gradually recovering daily life. Um Ji-won said, "My condition is improving day by day. I usually eat two meals a day, but at the hospital, I have three meals." She added with a smile, "Maybe because I'm eating well, my bones seem to be healing well." She also reflected, "This experience made me realize the importance of health management, and I feel I should continue exercising regularly."
Towards the end of the video, her discharge from the hospital was shown. After about a month of inpatient treatment, Um Ji-won left the hospital, saying, "I hope all the critically ill patients here regain their health and can return to their daily lives."
Recalling the accident, Um Ji-won explained, "It wasn't from skiing. The accident happened due to several overlapping situations." She revealed, "My shoe got stuck in a manhole, and as my foot was fixed, my ankle twisted, completely breaking the bone." She added, "Both the large and small bones were shattered into pieces."
After the 'emergency surgery' that lasted about two hours, Um Ji-won expressed relief, saying, "I checked the surgery results and was told there were no particular issues." She continued, "You must have been surprised to see me injured suddenly, but I'm recovering well now. I'll share more of my rehabilitation process next time with an even better condition."
