Exploring Myeongdong: Stars Dive into Seoul's Iconic District on 'Save Me! Holmes'
In this episode, fashion models Joo Woo-jae and Ahn Jae-hyun, who dominated Myeongdong in the 2000s, join Lim Won-hee, a '90 Seoul Institute of the Arts legend,' who reminisces about Myeongdong's heyday in the 1990s. The trio will explore everything from Myeongdong's bustling commercial streets, known for having the highest land prices in Korea, to the evolution of its residential areas.
The team visits one of the three iconic old apartments in Hoehyeon-dong, which, despite being over 50 years old, continues to see active transactions. They investigate the reasons behind its popularity, including its resident-only gate and courtyard design, and are impressed by the fully remodeled interiors.
The group then embarks on a 'gourmet exploration,' visiting a legendary kalguksu (noodle soup) restaurant in Myeongdong. Known for building its fortune with kalguksu, the restaurant recently purchased a new building for 29 billion won, astonishing the team. As a long-time patron, Lim Won-hee expresses his affection, saying, "Myeongdong has many great eateries, but if I had to pick one, it would be this." However, seeing 'small eater' Joo Woo-jae's eating style, Lim Won-hee humorously chides, "Why eat something so delicious in such a tasteless way?" bringing laughter to the scene.
Finally, they tour a newly constructed mixed-use apartment in Hoehyeon-dong, boasting views of N Tower. Ahn Jae-hyun, impressed by the spacious kitchen, comments, "I like a big kitchen because I have many kitchenware items," while Joo Woo-jae disagrees, saying, "Two or three cups are enough," highlighting their differing opinions. The outcome of their exploration remains to be seen.
The Myeongdong episode of 'Save Me! Holmes' airs on Thursday at 10 PM.
