Koo Kyo-hwan's unstoppable journey begins as JTBC's 'Fighting Against One's Worthlessness' is set to premiere on April 18. The first teaser video has been released, showcasing Koo's desperate struggle to prove himself against feelings of worthlessness.

JTBC's new weekend drama 'Fighting Against One's Worthlessness' (directed by Cha Young-hoon, written by Park Hae-young, produced by Studio Phoenix, SLL, and Studio Flow) follows the story of a man driven mad by jealousy and envy among his successful friends, as he seeks peace. Koo Kyo-hwan plays Hwang Dong-man, a character who hides his endless anxiety with a facade of jealousy. The drama promises to portray his humorous yet poignant efforts to escape the swamp of insignificance and worthlessness.

The teaser opens with successful film director Park Kyung-se (played by Oh Jung-se) delivering a harsh truth, "Hwang Dong-man should leave this field. There's no future for him here." This brutal honesty highlights Dong-man's deep-seated inferiority complex. During a film association interview, drenched in sweat, he envies his friends' success, sarcastically muttering, "That's how you write a script!" He then vents his frustration by banging his head against a bus window and shouting in despair. It's a chaotic display of a man whose control system has malfunctioned.

Yet, beneath this chaos lies a poignant vulnerability. Dong-man, feeling defeated, climbs a hill, tears in his eyes, shouting his own name, "When I can't prove myself by succeeding, I'll prove myself by falling apart," he cries, running through the streets. It's a desperate cry to affirm his existence, to leave a mark on the world, even if it means breaking down.

Despite the red signals in his life, Dong-man refuses to stop. With a determined gaze, he challenges, "Try to stop me. You can't!" This ending scene ignites hope that he will eventually turn the red light of his life into green. It's a comforting message to all of us battling our own complexes and feelings of worthlessness.

The production team stated, "From the first teaser, Koo Kyo-hwan has convincingly portrayed the complex deficiencies and intense energy of the character 'Hwang Dong-man.' His unique acting style will bring this valuable character to life. Look forward to Koo Kyo-hwan's passionate performance."

'Fighting Against One's Worthlessness' is a collaboration between writer Park Hae-young, known for crafting noble sentences from life's lowest emotions, and director Cha Young-hoon, who captures the extraordinary bonds of ordinary people with warm humanism. The drama, focusing on the universal emotion of 'anxiety,' aims to turn the red light of worthlessness into a green light of life. It premieres on April 18 at 10:40 PM on JTBC.
