K-Drama 'Siren' Captivates Global Audience with Stellar Cast and Gripping Plot

South Korean actors Park Min-young, Wi Ha-joon, and Kim Jung-hyun are set to gain global popularity with their new drama 'Siren.' Previously, Park Min-young made headlines for losing weight down to 37kg for her role as a cancer patient in the drama 'Marry My Husband' two years ago. For her current role, she revealed that she drank 3 liters of water daily to portray a character who doesn't eat well. Although she didn't specify her current weight, her slender figure remains noticeable.

tvN's Monday-Tuesday drama 'Siren' has made a strong debut, achieving high ratings both domestically and on global OTT platforms.

Premiering on October 2nd, 'Siren' introduces viewers to the intense first meeting between the beautiful auctioneer Han Seol-ah (played by Park Min-young), insurance investigator Cha Woo-seok (played by Wi Ha-joon), and the mysterious startup CEO Baek Jun-beom (played by Kim Jung-hyun). The drama captivated audiences with its gripping storyline, achieving a peak viewership rating of 7.2% nationwide and in the metropolitan area, securing the top spot in its time slot across cable and general programming channels, according to Nielsen Korea.

According to Flixpatrol, an OTT ranking site, 'Siren' has made an impressive start on Amazon Prime, ranking in the top 8 globally in the TV Show category as of March 4, 2026. The drama claimed the number one spot in countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, and entered the top 10 in 17 countries, including Brazil, Mexico, and Greece.

Buoyed by this response, 'Siren' is rapidly emerging as a well-made romance thriller, thanks to the actors' immersive performances, fast-paced plot, stylish direction, and sophisticated music. With just the first two episodes, 'Siren' has captured the hearts of viewers in Korea and worldwide, heightening anticipation for the next installment.
