Son Seung-yeon Shines as a Vocalist on MBC's 'The Best'
On the episode aired on the 8th, Son Seung-yeon took the stage, following her victory against Kim Ki-tae in last week's showdown, which earned her the first trophy. As she prepared for the upcoming ranking battle, Son expressed her ambition, saying, "With the benefits at stake, I am eager to claim the top spot," signaling her continued pursuit of excellence.
Son Seung-yeon stated, "While it's great to challenge various genres, I wanted to perform a song that aligns with the image audiences expect from me." She chose Im Jae-bum's 'Consolation', reinterpreting the rock-heavy original with her unique emotional touch, offering a warm solace to listeners.
Her performance moved not only the live audience but also fellow artists Heo Sung-tae and Ulala Session's Park Seung-il, who were seen wiping away tears. Heo Sung-tae praised her, saying, "Personally, the past three years have been the toughest in my life, and the lyrics 'Everyone has their own season' were a great comfort to me."
Son Seung-yeon shared her heartfelt thoughts, "I heard this song at Im Jae-bum's concert and wanted to share it with the audience. I hope 'The Best' becomes the brightest season for all the participants," as she confirmed her advancement to the next showdown.
