Former Baseball Star Hwang Jae-gyun Opens Up About Life After Divorce on 'The Manager'

Former baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun shared his thoughts on remarriage after divorce.

On the October 7th episode of MBC's variety show 'The Manager', Hwang Jae-gyun's daily life was revealed.

During the show, Hwang announced his recent exclusive contract with SM C&C. When the hosts asked if he was now in the same agency as Jeon Hyun-moo and whether Jeon had helped in the contract process, Hwang replied, "Hyun-moo hyung spoke highly of me to the CEO," adding that "the influence of 'The Manager' was significant."

Jeon Hyun-moo jokingly added, "I told them the signing bonus was cheap," eliciting laughter. Hwang's manager expressed gratitude, mentioning that during the contract meeting, Hwang stated, "The only condition is to work with this friend," referring to the manager. Hwang further explained, "Initially, I was looking for a sports agency position, but I realized I couldn't do without a manager," adding a heartwarming touch.

Hwang and Jeon exchanged playful banter, showcasing their close friendship. While touring Hwang's home, Jeon was captivated by a luxury watch collection displayed in the living room. He remarked, "These are hard to find in stores," to which Hwang responded, "I got them through connections."

Upon checking the market value, it was revealed that one of the watches was worth around 100 million won. Jeon joked, "Didn't you buy it for 40-50 million won? Sell it to me for 40 million," but Hwang humorously replied, "I've seen the market value," and put the watch back, drawing laughter.

Hwang also mentioned his upcoming appearance on KBS Joy's variety show 'Ask Us Anything' and was contemplating what concerns to share. Jeon suggested, "Ask if you should get married again. Isn't that something you actually asked me?" catching Hwang off guard.

Jeon continued, "Didn't you say you wanted to have a child?" Hwang candidly admitted, "Since my niece was born, I've been thinking about it more," expressing his desire to have children.

Jeon advised, "Talk to Seojang-hoon hyung, who remarried, and Soogeun hyung, who is married. They know both perspectives."

Hwang jokingly asked, "Can't you go first?" to which Jeon firmly replied, "It's almost impossible for me. Not happening," bringing more laughter.

Meanwhile, Hwang married T-ara's Jiyeon in December 2022, but their divorce was finalized in November 2024. He is now preparing for a new challenge as a WBC commentator.
