Comedian Ahn Sang-tae Opens Up About Hiatus Due to Noise Dispute
On October 5th, the YouTube channel 'Exclusive World - The People Back Then' released a video titled 'He Was a Reserved Eldest Son... Comedian Ahn Sang-tae, The Story Behind His Hiatus'.
The video updates viewers on Ahn Sang-tae's life, who gained nationwide fame in 2004 with his 'Anoe-bong' character on the popular KBS 'Gag Concert' segment 'Kkambbak Home Shopping'. He quickly became a standout figure, sweeping the KBS Entertainment Awards for Best Newcomer and Best Segment.
However, behind his glamorous career lay hidden struggles. Ahn revealed that he decided to move four years ago due to a noise dispute that arose in 2021, stating, "It was chaotic. I felt like a criminal to the point where I couldn't leave my house."
Ahn continued, "When I asked why they wrote the post, they confessed it was due to parenting stress," revealing the shocking truth.
Ultimately, Ahn sued the individual for defamation, and after over a year of civil litigation, he was cleared of the noise dispute allegations in June 2022. Although exonerated, Ahn expressed, "Even though I wasn't guilty, my name was dragged through the media, and I couldn't even go out to eat," with tears in his eyes. He shared, "People wrote cruel comments about my daughter, like 'cut off a part of her body,' and I'm just grateful she's too young to understand."
Currently, Ahn is living a second life as a film director and producer. Fellow comedians Park Sung-ho and Kim Hye-sun have supported him as actors. Handling everything from scriptwriting to editing, he revealed, "My earnings from film production last year were only 320,000 won."
Ahn appeared as a student dean in the 2024 film 'Veteran 2' and continues his acting career on the musical stage.
