Korean actress Uhm Ji-won recently underwent emergency surgery in South Korea after sustaining an injury during a trip to Japan.

On October 5th, Uhm Ji-won's YouTube channel featured a video titled 'Unprecedented Incident During Travel, Uhm Ji-won's Emergency Surgery.' The video revealed that Uhm Ji-won suffered a fractured ankle during her trip to Japan in February, necessitating urgent surgery.

Appearing with her leg in a cast, Uhm Ji-won addressed her fans, "Happy New Year, everyone. Some of you might have read about it in the news, but I had a major accident at the start of the year. My leg is completely out of commission," she began. She clarified that the injury wasn't due to skiing but rather a combination of unfortunate circumstances.

Uhm Ji-won elaborated further, "Somehow, my shoe got stuck in a manhole, causing my ankle to twist while my foot was fixed in place. The bones in my foot were completely shattered. Both the large and small bones were broken, with the large bone in pieces. The small bone was also fractured, so it was fixed with surgery."

She added, "While here, I gained an important life lesson. People often talk about being born with a silver spoon, but I've realized there's something even more important: having a strong body is the best asset."

Uhm Ji-won, who underwent surgery for over two hours, reassured her fans, "Fortunately, the surgery went well without any issues. You might have been surprised to see me injured suddenly, but I'm recovering well, so don't worry. I'll share my rehabilitation journey and show you a much-improved version of myself soon," she said with a smile.

Finally, Uhm Ji-won expressed her gratitude to her production team, jokingly saying, "Thank you for taking care of me like professional caregivers, but honestly, being taken care of is a bit overwhelming," she quipped, showing her appreciation.
