Chef Kim Hee-eun Reveals Shocking Past of Overcoming Adversity to Achieve Michelin Stardom

Chef Kim Hee-eun shares a shocking story of being hit by an ashtray by her father, leaving her bleeding.

On the October 3rd episode of SBS's variety show 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny' (hereafter 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2'), the daily life of Michelin-starred chefs Kim Hee-eun and Yoon Dae-hyun will be revealed for the first time.

Kim Hee-eun, who gained attention for her appearance as a 'silver spoon' contestant in 'Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War' and her showdown with Monk Seonjae, joins 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2' as the 101st couple of destiny. During the pre-recorded session, the studio buzzed with excitement at the appearance of Kim Hee-eun, one of only four female Michelin-starred owner chefs in Korea, and her husband, the accomplished chef Yoon Dae-hyun.

The couple, who have maintained their Michelin star status for three consecutive years in Haebangchon, are truly a star couple. However, Kim Hee-eun shocked everyone by revealing, “I was hit by an ashtray by my father who opposed my cooking,” and “I ran away from home with just a piggy bank.” She confessed to enduring severe financial hardship, surviving on toilet paper from subway restrooms and kimbap for three days just to pursue her passion for cooking.

In response, everyone united in support, saying, “You worked hard,” “You have determination,” and “Reaching your current position as a chef is no easy feat,” offering encouragement to Kim Hee-eun.
