Actor Lomon Reflects on the Conclusion of 'From Today, I'm Human' with Heartfelt Insights
In the drama, Lomon portrayed Kang Si-yeol, a global soccer star with a fiery passion, convincingly depicting the character's inner void and growth behind his glamorous exterior. The show, which combined romantic comedy with fantasy elements and deep emotional connections, saw Lomon working alongside actress Kim Hye-yoon to bring the characters to life.
Below is a Q&A with Lomon regarding the conclusion of 'From Today, I'm Human.'
The set was filled with warm and precious memories for me, as it was a project made with passionate and wonderful people. I was happy to live as Kang Si-yeol for the past few months, and thanks to the hardworking staff and fellow actors, I feel I've grown. Although it's bittersweet to say goodbye, I'm pleased to end on a high note thanks to the viewers' love.
Q. Is there a scene or line from Kang Si-yeol that you are particularly attached to?
The scene where Si-yeol reunites with his long-lost grandmother is particularly memorable for me. It was a poignant moment where he faced a precious presence he had forgotten or ignored amidst his success and glamour. Filming that scene made me reflect deeply on what truly matters in life.
Q. What new aspects of yourself as an actor did you aim to showcase in this project?
I wanted to highlight Si-yeol's 'dynamic charm' with his athlete's passion and energy. I aimed to create a multi-dimensional character who is not just a glamorous star but also honest with his emotions, sometimes quirky and cute. I hope to be remembered as a more approachable and versatile actor through this project.
Q. How did playing Kang Si-yeol help you grow as an actor?
I feel my 'perspective of empathy' has broadened. Playing Si-yeol, who learns to understand others' pain and confronts his own voids, made me reconsider how I approach people. It was a valuable experience that went beyond acting, allowing me to feel how a person's inner self can be strengthened through love and understanding.
Q. Having played intense characters in genre dramas, what was different about taking on a romance-centered narrative?
The biggest difference was immersing deeply in the relationships and emotional exchanges between characters, rather than just following the plot. Conveying sincerity through subtle nuances in dialogue and expressions was fascinating. The emotional energy exchanged with co-actors was central to the drama, so I focused on maintaining a detailed rapport at every moment.
Q. What did you learn about expressing emotions through your romance acting?
I realized that true love involves honestly acknowledging one's voids and filling those gaps with each other's warmth. I learned that empathy, rather than mere consideration, deepens love, and this helped me approach emotional expression more sincerely and straightforwardly.
Q. Lastly, do you have a message for the viewers who loved Kang Si-yeol in 'From Today, I'm Human'?
Thank you sincerely for warmly watching and supporting Si-yeol's growth journey. I hope the small but precious happiness Si-yeol found brings some comfort to your daily lives. I will continue to remember the passion and sincerity I learned from Si-yeol and strive to show you even better performances in the future. Wishing you all happiness!
