Lee Sung-kyung Faces Heartbreak in 'Your Glorious Season' Premiere
In the first two episodes, aired on October 20 and 21, Lee Sung-kyung and Chae Jong-hyeop portray characters dealing with profound loss. Lee's character, Song Ha-ran, has lost both her parents and boyfriend, leading her to isolate herself emotionally. Meanwhile, Chae's character, Sun Woo-chan, lives each day as if it's summer vacation after surviving near-death experiences.
Lee Sung-kyung plays Song Ha-ran, the chief designer at Nana Atelier, led by her grandmother Kim Nana (played by Lee Mi-sook). Her portrayal is marked by diverse styling and nuanced emotional expression, convincingly depicting a character scarred by past tragedies. In the first episode alone, she dons 15 different outfits, visually reinforcing her character's identity.
Chae Jong-hyeop complements Lee's performance as Sun Woo-chan, a former engineering student who has lost his zest for life. Initially appearing in a black hoodie, he begins responding to Song Ha-ran's messages on behalf of his roommate, Kang Hyuk-chan (played by Kwon Do-hyung). This interaction leads to a turning point in his life, as he survives two near-death experiences thanks to Ha-ran. Chae gradually infuses warmth into his character's initially lifeless eyes, building his feelings for Ha-ran.
The storyline also explores Woo-chan's heightened sensitivity to sound after losing hearing in one ear, adding depth to his trauma. His decision to bring Ha-ran out of her emotional winter into spring is portrayed as a life-changing choice, rather than mere affection. His confession, "Let's just have fun until I leave next spring, like we're on a spring picnic," signals a new chapter in their relationship.
The third episode of 'Your Glorious Season' will air on October 27 at 9:50 PM.
