Actor Hong Jong-hyun Discusses His Role and Personal Insights on 'The Love Story'
On the 23rd, Hong Jong-hyun met with reporters at a cafe located on Dosan-daero in Gangnam, Seoul. He discussed various aspects of the Channel A drama 'The Love Story' (directed by Kim Jin-sung), which concluded the previous day.
'The Love Story' is a romantic comedy that follows Kang Doo-joon (played by Choi Jin-hyuk) and Jang Hee-won (played by Oh Yeon-seo), who become entangled after a one-night stand, despite their belief that marriage is not in their plans. Hong Jong-hyun plays Cha Min-wook, a deputy in the sales team of Taehan Liquor.
Min-wook is a long-time friend of 15 years to Hee-won. He remains by her side as a friend but eventually realizes his feelings for her are more than just friendship.
Min-wook is described as the ideal type with his handsome appearance and kind, caring personality, earning him the nickname 'unicorn boyfriend.' When asked if Hong Jong-hyun is as gentle in real life, he shyly laughed and said, "There are moments like that, but not always."
He explained, "Among guys, we often joke around and tease each other, and there are moments when I treat my female friends similarly, so I'm not always like Min-wook."
Hong Jong-hyun admitted, "There are parts of me that are like Min-wook, but I think Min-wook is a better person and man than I am. Even among men, Min-wook seems to fit the 'unicorn' description."
Describing himself as a 'playful guy,' Hong Jong-hyun mentioned that his ideal type is someone kind and polite. He said, "I like someone who is comfortable. Regardless of age, I prefer someone who can communicate well as an equal, like a friend."
He added, "Initially, a relationship can continue through someone's efforts and mutual caution. However, if there isn't a shared understanding or similar thoughts, it's difficult to maintain a long-term relationship."
