Choi Won-young Reflects on 'Beloved Bandit' Finale with Heartfelt Gratitude
Choi Won-young has shared his heartfelt thoughts as the KBS2 weekend mini-series 'Beloved Bandit' (written by Lee Sun, directed by Ham Young-geol) comes to an end.

On the 23rd, through his agency, Hodoo & U Entertainment, Choi expressed, “I recall the times from the first shoot last year during the blooming season, battling through the heat while traversing nature. I am grateful to have been able to share this journey with the viewers until the final broadcast. I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who loved and supported the series.”

He further reflected on his character, Im Sa-hyung, saying, “Due to the historical drama genre, I had to focus more intensely, and portraying a character consumed by power and greed was not easy. Nonetheless, it was meaningful to convey the message that justice, warmth, and humanity do not disappear.”

Choi humorously added, “Please dislike Im Sa-hyung, but don’t dislike me too much. I hope to greet you again with another enjoyable and entertaining project. Wishing you health and prosperity in the new year.”

In 'Beloved Bandit,' Choi Won-young played the role of Im Sa-hyung, a character driven by power, showcasing the essence of an antagonist. His detailed psychological portrayal and delicate expressions brought the character to life, making headlines with each episode. Particularly, scenes where he takes his son's life in a crisis or lies nonchalantly even in the face of death were delivered with heightened intensity through his high-caliber performance.

In the final episode, Choi naturally depicted the crumbling authority of Im Sa-hyung and the accompanying emotional shifts, enhancing the drama's credibility. The turmoil and remorse revealed by the character, who had committed cold-hearted acts, were deeply expressed through Choi's gaze and voice.

His ability to adjust the intensity of his performance according to the situation served as a pivotal axis supporting the drama's conflict. The multidimensional portrayal of Im Sa-hyung's inner world, driven by power and ambition, was also well-received.

Meanwhile, 'Beloved Bandit' concluded on January 22nd, following its premiere on January 3rd, with steadily rising viewership ratings and high buzz.
