MBN's 'Bread of the World' Episode 4: Contestants Face High Stakes in Baking Challenge
The fourth episode of MBN's 'Bread of the World,' aired on the 22nd, reached a peak viewership rating of 1.9%. The episode hinted at the emergence of a new baking sensation, reminiscent of 'Doojonkku,' captivating audiences with an amazing world of bread.
The episode featured the start of the second round team mission, 'A Good Day to Eat Bread,' which would determine the fate of the eight teams. Contestants had to open a pop-up store matching the theme within six hours, with the lowest-ranked team facing elimination. Joining as a special master was Cha Seung-hee, a legendary figure in Korea's F&B industry, and a 'Shopping Cart Jury' of 30 top pastry students added to the excitement.
The 'Picnic Day' team (Jo Song-ah, Lim Dong-seok, Kwon Soon-seung, Kim Ji-ho), who excelled in the first round, reimagined nostalgic conch bread into 'Strawberry Brioche Cone' and a basket bread made with puff pastry and strawberry mousse. However, Jo Song-ah's failure to secure the basket handle with an hour left caused concern.
The 'Need Dopamine Day' team (Yoon Hwa-young, Alessio Galli, Je In-young, Jung Min) struggled with repeated failures in making 'choux' pastry but managed to recover in the end. The 'Feeling Blue Day' team (Jang Kyung-joo, Jo Sang-min, Choi Jung-hoon, Kim Si-yeop) created 'Cloud Boussé' and 'Cloud Egg Tart Choux,' with Jo Sang-min redeeming himself with a successful 'Cloud Mousse.'
The 'Hangover Day' team (Lee Kyung-moo, Sung Min-soo, Lee Hong-kyu, Lee Hye-seong) impressed with creative hangover breads but faced a setback when Lee Hye-seong misunderstood instructions, leading to a dough reset. Realizing her mistake, she apologized profusely.
After setup, the 'Shopping Cart Jury' tasted and voted for their favorite breads. Lee Hye-seong, determined to make up for her mistake, energetically promoted their hangover breads.
The masters' evaluation followed, with the 'Flirting Day' team adding a sensory twist by spraying edible perfume. While praised for innovation, the use of rum drew mixed reactions, leaving their fate uncertain.
