'Beloved Thief' Finale Achieves Highest Ratings with Heartwarming Ending
The last episode of KBS 2TV's weekend mini-series 'Beloved Thief,' which aired on the 22nd, depicted a rosy happy ending for Hong Eun-jo (played by Nam Ji-hyun) and Lee Yeol (played by Moon Sang-min) as they overcame all crises and stood by each other's side. The final episode recorded a viewership rating of 7.6%, with a scene where Lee Yeol talks to his young nephew reaching a peak of 8.4%, according to Nielsen Korea's nationwide household standards.
However, unresolved issues remained for Lee Yeol, including his duty as a king to protect the people, his young nephew confused by his dethroned father, and the situation with Hong Eun-jo, whom he could not take as his wife. After much contemplation, Lee Yeol decided not to hold a wedding and instead planned to approach Hong Eun-jo after passing the throne to his nephew.
Additionally, the revelation of Hong Eun-jo and Lee Yeol's long-standing connection drew attention. It was revealed that the girl who saved Lee Yeol when he fell into a river during his childhood was none other than Hong Eun-jo. In a twist of fate, as if fulfilling Hong Eun-jo's wish to be with the prince in another life, the two were shown meeting again in modern times, allowing viewers to imagine their happy future.
