Kang Seok-woo and Lee Mi-sook Reunite After 40 Years in 'The Season of Your Brilliance'

Actor Kang Seok-woo shared his thoughts on reuniting with Lee Mi-sook in the new drama 'The Season of Your Brilliance', nearly 40 years after their film 'Winter Wanderer'.

On the afternoon of the 19th, a press conference for MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Season of Your Brilliance' was held at the MBC headquarters in Sangam, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Hosted by MC Park Kyung-lim, the event was attended by director Jung Sang-hee and actors Lee Sung-kyung, Chae Jong-hyeop, Lee Mi-sook, Kang Seok-woo, Han Ji-hyun, and Oh Ye-ju, who discussed the upcoming series.

'The Season of Your Brilliance' is a romance that follows 'Chan', a man who lives every day like summer vacation, and 'Ran', a woman who has confined herself to winter. Their fateful meeting sets time in motion once again. Kang Seok-woo plays a pivotal role as a silver-haired barista running a coffee house named 'Rest' in a quiet alley.

Kang Seok-woo confessed, "After the poor performance of my previous work 'Fool's End', I thought my acting career was over." He also admitted, "I realized that people my age struggle with memorizing lines, and I was no exception."

Kang Seok-woo and Lee Mi-sook previously starred as Min-woo and Da-hye in the 1986 film 'Winter Wanderer', which became a cultural phenomenon. After many years, they reunite in this new project. Kang Seok-woo explained his decision to join the cast, saying, "The director's character was appealing, but hearing that Lee Mi-sook was involved made me realize that the unfinished story of 'Winter Wanderer' still lingered in my heart. I felt it was time to bring closure." He added, "I was very happy to show fans what we look like 40 years later, which made me reconsider quitting acting," he said with a smile.

Lee Mi-sook commented, "It seems like brilliant seasons only exist when we're young, but even in our twilight years, we can still shine. The time didn't feel that long. The emotions we shared when we were young were still there, and it was delightful." Regarding Kang Seok-woo, she said, "He is a very mature person. At an age where stubbornness can make one seem old, he always treats others kindly, and there's much to learn from him. It feels like the right people have come together," she added warmly.

'The Season of Your Brilliance' premieres on MBC at 9:50 PM on the 20th.
