Huh Chan-mi Triumphs in 'Miss Trot 4' Amidst Criticism, Secures Top Spot

Huh Chan-mi, who has faced criticism labeled as 'Buk Chan-mi', has clinched the top spot.

On the episode of TV Chosun's variety show 'Miss Trot 4' aired on the 19th, Huh Chan-mi scored 1704 points in the second round of the Legend Mission, securing the first place solely with her singing ability.

Huh Chan-mi had previously been criticized by some fans with the term 'Buk Chan-mi', implying she received the 'Jin' title by beating a drum. However, she silenced her critics by scoring 1704 points in the second round of the Legend Mission, and with an additional 185 points from the first round, she achieved a commanding total of 1889 points, securing the top position.

During the broadcast, Huh Chan-mi stated, “I saw many comments saying 'Buk Chan-mi' (beating a drum and receiving Jin) and 'Performance Jin' (receiving Jin for performance). I wanted to show that I could reach the top ten with just my singing, so I decided to stand firm and compete solely with my voice.”

Huh Chan-mi, recognized early on as a main vocal talent since her trainee days, chose Kim Yeon-ja's legendary song 'You Are a Spiteful Butterfly'. Her performance was as graceful as the butterfly on her outfit, showcasing her ability to control dynamics naturally. She scored 1498 points, with all but one master giving her a perfect score of 100. This is the highest average score in the history of the Legend Mission.

Before the judges' comments, a voice from the judges' panel was caught on the microphone saying, “I think she will be first.” Kim Yong-bin, a master born in the same year as Huh Chan-mi, 1992, remarked, “I thought Chan-mi was more of a performer and dancer, not someone who excels in traditional trot. She completely shattered that stereotype.”

Meanwhile, the final TOP10 includes 1st place Huh Chan-mi, 2nd Hong Sung-yoon, 3rd Gil Ryeo-won, 4th Yoon Yoon-seo, 5th Yoon Tae-hwa, 6th Yeom Yoo-ri, 7th Yoo Mi, 8th Lee So-na, 9th Lee El-iya, and 10th Kim San-ha. Unfortunately, Jeok Woo, Kim Da-na, Jung Hye-rin, Jang Hye-ri, Kim Hye-jin, and Chae Yoon were eliminated. The semifinals of 'Miss Trot 4' will air on the 26th at 9:30 PM.
