Veteran Actor Im Hyun-sik Opens Up About Life and Health Struggles
On the October 19th episode of MBN's current affairs program 'Special World,' Im Hyun-sik appeared to update fans on his current situation.
During the episode, Im Hyun-sik visited the memorial of the late Lee Soon-jae before returning home. Once home, he pondered aloud, "When I'm gone, what will my daughters think as they burn this?" while tidying up his house.
Coincidentally, his second daughter, Im Geum-sil, visited him. She expressed her concern, saying, "I visit often because I'm worried about my father. Last year, I made sure to visit at least once or twice a week. There have been more hospital visits and more frequent times when I come home to take care of him."
Previously, Im Hyun-sik was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction and underwent a heart stent procedure. On TV Chosun's 'Perfect Life' last year, he recounted, "After finishing my schedule, I was driving home alone when I felt a tightness in my chest. I waited for it to subside, but the pain persisted. The fear that I might die if I went home overwhelmed me, so I went to the emergency room."
Born in 1945, Im Hyun-sik debuted in 1969 as part of MBC's first open recruitment for actors and has been active in the industry for over 50 years. He gained immense popularity for his role as Soon-dol's father in the drama 'Three Families Under One Roof.' He continued to charm audiences with supporting roles in numerous hit dramas such as 'Hur Jun' and 'Dae Jang Geum.'
