Veteran Actor Im Hyun-sik Opens Up About Heart Stent Procedure
On the October 19th episode of MBN's current affairs program 'Special World,' Im Hyun-sik appeared to share updates on his life.
The episode began with Im starting his day by clearing the snow that had accumulated overnight. When he remarked, "I think this counts as exercise," the production team noted, "You seem out of breath." Im acknowledged, "The time it takes for me to get out of breath is getting shorter as I age."
Im Hyun-sik shared, "Since last fall, I noticeably lost weight and experienced unusual symptoms." He confessed, "I initially thought it was just fatigue, but my health was more precarious than I realized."
Previously, Im was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction and underwent a heart stent insertion. On TV Chosun's 'Perfect Life' last year, he shared, "After finishing my schedule, I was driving home alone when I felt a tightness in my chest. I waited for it to subside, but the pain persisted. I was overwhelmed by the fear that I might die if I went home, so I went to the emergency room."
Born in 1945, Im Hyun-sik debuted in 1969 as part of MBC's first open recruitment for actors and has been active in the industry for over 50 years. He gained immense popularity for his role as Soon-dol's father in the drama 'Three Families Under One Roof.' He continued to charm audiences with supporting roles in popular series like 'Hur Jun' and 'Dae Jang Geum.'
