Baek Jong-won's 'K-BBQ' Faces Tough Competition in Lyon: Sales Lag Behind Rivals

Baek Jong-won's 'K-BBQ' restaurant in Lyon struggles with sales.

On the latest episode of tvN's 'World Food Challenge: Baek's Business Trip 3,' aired on the 17th, Baek Jong-won, Yuri, Lee Jang-woo, Yoon Si-yoon, and John Park were seen running a Korean BBQ restaurant in Lyon, France.

The first day's sales of the ambitious 'K-BBQ' were revealed to be 798 euros (approximately $860). Compared to their first days in Italy (122 euros) and Spain (389 euros), this was nearly double, bringing joy to the team.

Despite Baek's confidence, saying "It's doable," the mood shifted when the sales of neighboring restaurants on the '10 Billion Street' were disclosed. Restaurant L earned 2,900 euros ($3,130), and Restaurant B made 4,674 euros ($5,040), both significantly higher than Baek's restaurant.

The neighboring gourmet burger joint earned 1,750 euros, and the Italian restaurant made 850 euros, leaving Baek's restaurant at the bottom in sales. Baek warned John Park, who had lost the battle for outdoor seating the previous day, "Don't lose even one table outside," drawing attention.

To achieve an annual sales goal of 1 billion won, they need to earn 2,067,000 won over seven days. Baek introduced new menu items like pork skin, spicy pork belly, and Korean pancakes to boost sales.

The pork skin, priced at 5 euros, was introduced as a 'mystery menu' with a 'guess it right and it's free' challenge. However, some customers reacted negatively, saying, "It's not to my taste" and "It's not good." Only two tables guessed correctly.

As the team hopes for increased sales with additional side menu strategies, the preview for next week's episode shows Baek launching a 'Cheese Dakgalbi' menu, followed by a sales drop and a declaration to halt operations, heightening anticipation.
