Lee Deok-hwa Shines as a Calculative Villain in 'Undercover Miss Hong'
Lee Deok-hwa appeared as Kang Pil-beom, the chairman of Hanmin Securities, in the episodes aired on October 7th and 8th.
In 'Undercover Miss Hong', the storyline unfolds during the IMF crisis, shaking the domestic economic market. Kang Pil-beom, in a phone call with a Ministry of Finance official, threatened, "Do you let such breaking news be seen on TV?"
He further pressured the official by mentioning donations, saying, "You should think about your child studying in the U.S. Let's arrange a meeting with a vice-minister today. I'll handle the rest," showcasing his strategic maneuvering to navigate the crisis.
Lee Deok-hwa heightened the tension by expressing intense anger through Kang Pil-beom. When the Ministry of Finance decided to provide public funds to companies that submitted repayment plans and accounting data from the past three years, Kang Pil-beom instructed President Shin Jung-woo (played by Go Kyung-pyo) to engage in accounting fraud to secure the funds.
However, just as President Shin was about to submit the fraudulent files to the Ministry, Hong Geum-bo (played by Park Shin-hye) swapped them with the original accounting data. As a result, Hanmin Securities was excluded from receiving government funds, leading Kang Pil-beom to express his fury, freezing those around him with his anger.
Lee Deok-hwa perfectly embodies the villain with his cold gaze and overwhelming charisma in 'Undercover Miss Hong'. As Hanmin Securities faces a crisis, viewers are eager to see what further actions Kang Pil-beom will take.
Meanwhile, 'Undercover Miss Hong' is a comedic office drama set in the late 1990s, following elite securities supervisor Hong Geum-bo as she goes undercover as a 20-year-old entry-level employee at a suspicious securities firm. The show airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 PM on tvN.
