Dr. Oh Eun-young Criticizes Husband's Lack of Parenting Involvement on 'My Golden Kids'
On the upcoming episode of Channel A's 'My Golden Kids,' airing on the 6th, the story of 'Four Siblings in Tears and a Burned-Out Mom' will be revealed.
In the studio, a couple raising four adorable children makes an appearance. The introduction video showcases the unique charms of their children: a mature and reliable 13-year-old eldest son, a lively 10-year-old second child, a 9-year-old princess who is the only daughter, and a 6-year-old youngest who is the apple of everyone's eye. The heartwarming sight of the four siblings brings smiles to the panelists' faces.
However, the scene quickly shifts as the sound of piercing cries fills the air. The third child, who has been crying uncontrollably lately, seems to be beyond the parents' ability to manage, drawing attention to what might be troubling her.
In the observation video, the third child is seen drawing alone in her room. As she accidentally presses the wrong button on her tablet, erasing her carefully drawn picture, she bursts into tears, stomping her feet in frustration. Her mother rushes in, quickly assessing the situation and sighing in relief that it's not a 'big deal.'
The mother offers various solutions, but the third child struggles to calm down. She begins to express self-deprecating thoughts, saying, "I'm useless," and "I always make mistakes and am weird." Dr. Oh points out that the mother's actions might be hindering the child's emotional regulation.
Upon returning home, the mother is shocked by the state of the house. Confronting the half-asleep father about his lack of involvement, he dismissively claims, "I took care of the kids," before immersing himself in his phone, treating parenting as someone else's responsibility. The mother, resigned, tackles the mountain of household chores alone. Observing the situation with a serious expression, Dr. Oh emphasizes the necessity of the father's involvement in parenting, noting the mother's severe burnout from parenting stress.
During a school supplies shopping trip, the eldest, second, and third children peacefully select items and complete their purchase. However, when the eldest takes a pencil chosen by the third child, tensions rise. The third child calls their mother, claiming her brother hit her, while the two brothers remain anxious as she clings to her phone on the way home.
As expected, the three siblings are summoned upon arriving home. The mother scolds the brothers, and despite the eldest's protests of innocence, he receives more reprimands. The second child, who remained silent, also faces scolding. Dr. Oh criticizes the mother's 'military-style' discipline, highlighting the need to acknowledge the children's genuine emotions.
The true story behind the siblings' grievances will be unveiled on 'My Golden Kids,' airing at 9 PM.
