Kim Yoo-jung Advocates for On-Set Psychological Support for Child Actors
Recently, Kim appeared on the 'Baek Eun-ha's Exchange' channel, where she discussed her belief that child actors should have access to on-set psychological counselors. This conviction stems from her own childhood experiences.
A resurfaced video from her early career shows a 5-year-old Kim Yoo-jung being subjected to harsh language during a script rehearsal. Although it was part of the script, it highlighted the challenging environment young actors often face.
Baek Eun-ha asked Kim about her efforts to support child actors on set. Kim responded, "Having started acting at a young age, I understand their feelings well. But it was tough for me too. I often just wanted to go home, was hungry, cold, and sleepy."
Kim has taken action by suggesting to directors that psychological counselors be present during filming with child actors. "The directors agreed, and it was implemented. I hope child actors don't have to struggle or suffer," she shared.
Kim Yoo-jung, who debuted in 2003, has evolved from 'the nation's little sister' to a leading actress. Her recent role in the drama 'Dear X' showcased a bold transformation, garnering significant attention. Beyond her passion for acting, Kim is recognized for her positive influence and support for younger actors facing challenges in the industry.
