Seo Jang-hoon Offers Firm Advice to Woman Considering Breaking Off Engagement
The 350th episode featured a Korean-Japanese woman working as a Korean language teacher in Japan, who shared her concerns about her upcoming marriage.
The woman, who is in a relationship with an older man in Japan, revealed that her prospective in-laws have set a condition for marriage: she must live with them for a year before the marriage can proceed, which surprised the hosts.
The couple met through a Korean volunteer group in Japan. However, as discussions about marriage and cohabitation progressed quickly, the woman began to notice her boyfriend's flaws.
The first issue she mentioned was his excessive attachment to his mother. When asked about their honeymoon destination, her boyfriend said Jeju Island, a suggestion from his mother, not a mutual decision.
The second issue was his obsession with rings. He proposed getting matching rings just a day into their relationship and spent 1 million won on temporary rings from a department store while waiting for custom rings.
The fourth issue was his lack of privacy. Her history of depression treatment was shared with his sister, who made light of it, causing her deep hurt.
The final issue was his erectile dysfunction. She revealed they had never been intimate, and he claimed that true love doesn't require sexual desire, which she found hard to understand.
Despite her friends and family opposing the marriage, she hesitated due to rumors spreading in their small community.
Seo Jang-hoon commented, "I can't find a single reason to like him," and pointed out the numerous red flags. He added, "It's unreasonable to consider marrying someone you've known for less than three months." Lee Soo-geun also expressed concern, especially about the last issue, which could affect future family planning.
Regarding the in-laws' 'daughter-in-law evaluation' condition, Seo Jang-hoon suggested, "This might be a blessing in disguise," and advised against marrying out of fear of rumors.
Finally, Seo Jang-hoon encouraged her, saying, "If you continue working hard as a Korean language teacher, you'll find someone to be happy with."
