Soccer Star Song Min-kyu's Father Reflects on Past Struggles at Son's Wedding

Soccer player Song Min-kyu's father reminisced about their past hardships.

On the October 2nd episode of TV Chosun's 'Joseon's Love', the wedding of soccer player Song Min-kyu and announcer Kwak Min-seon was aired.

The ceremony was attended by many of Song's soccer colleagues, including Cho Gue-sung, Koo Sung-yoon, Song Bum-keun, Park Joo-ho, Lee Seung-woo, and Kim Seung-gyu. Watching his son get married, Song Min-kyu's father was moved to tears.

Two days before the wedding, Song Min-kyu's father went to work at a tofu factory at 6 AM. Song Min-kyu shared that his father has been delivering tofu for 15 years, rarely taking a day off. His father explained, "I only take two days off a year, during the holidays."

Song Min-kyu's father expressed, "He's an incredibly kind son. I'm happy doing anything with him." He continued, "There was no physical hardship, but mentally it was tough. I wanted to provide better for Min-kyu, but I couldn't. Life was very hard back then."

He recalled, "In this small town of Nonsan, we moved seven times, always renting. I paid for Min-kyu's soccer fees with my modest salary, but I never missed a payment. I didn't want to hurt his pride."
