Actor Gil Yong-woo Reveals On-Set Injury with Kim Hye-soo on 'Baekban Journey'
On November 1st at 7:50 PM, TV CHOSUN's 'Baekban Journey with Heo Young-man' will feature 'the epitome of a charming middle-aged man,' actor Gil Yong-woo, as he visits the expansive city of Hongcheon, where mountains and rivers meet.
In this episode, Gil Yong-woo challenges himself with his first-ever 'self-cam' in his 50-year career. Opening at the historic Hongcheon Five-Day Market, Gil Yong-woo initially appears awkward but quickly adapts with his characteristic charm as soon as the cue sign is given. He tastes the market's delicacies and shares warm ginger tea with vendors, leading the atmosphere with his engaging presence. Receiving compliments of being 'handsome' from vendors, he seamlessly blends into the market crowd, transforming into 'GilMC.'
Recently, he played the greedy villain 'Claudius' in the play 'Hamlet,' showcasing his intense villainous gaze to the show's host. Gil Yong-woo humbly expresses that acting becomes more challenging the more he learns, yet he reveals his strong desire to play 'Shylock' from 'The Merchant of Venice,' indicating his thirst for powerful roles.
Gil Yong-woo presents a surprising Korean beef grilling performance. Visiting a butcher restaurant with the host, they are astonished by the affordable price of premium Korean beef cuts, such as sirloin and tenderloin, at just 10,000 won per 100g. Known as a gourmet, Gil Yong-woo takes charge of the grill, but despite his flashy tong skills, the beef ends up charred. However, the unexpected savory taste of the burnt beef elicits the host's delighted reaction, "This is it!"
The deep and rich flavors of Hongcheon's cuisine with Gil Yong-woo can be seen on the Hongcheon episode of 'Baekban Journey with Heo Young-man,' airing today.
