Park Bo-gum's Journey to Becoming a Hairstylist: A New Chapter Unfolds
On the first episode of tvN's variety show 'Bo-gum Magical,' which aired on the 30th, viewers witnessed Park Bo-gum, Lee Sang-yi, and Kwak Dong-yeon as they prepared to open a barbershop in a small rural village in Muju, Jeollabuk-do, after a year-long challenge to obtain national certification.
During an interview with the production team, Park Bo-gum shared, "As many people have styled my hair, I've developed an eye for it and learned a lot. I even thought about becoming a hair designer. I wondered if I could live a second life if I didn't act, and thanks to this show, my expectations have been realized faster than I thought."
Previously, Park Bo-gum served as a barber during his military service and obtained a barber's national certification. This time, he aimed to acquire a hairstylist certification to personally give perms to elderly residents in the countryside.
As a result, Park Bo-gum surprised everyone by passing the written exam. However, the practical exam proved to be a significant challenge. He recalled, "Perming was much harder than I thought. Having to complete it within the time limit was really stressful," and added, "I couldn't finish the last section, and when I heard 'hands off,' it felt like everyone was staring at me."
Park Bo-gum's challenge to pursue another life beyond his glamorous acting career is resonating deeply with viewers.
