Trot Singer Lee Soo-na Reveals Heart-Wrenching Family Story on MBN's 'Special World'
On the October 29th episode of MBN's 'Special World,' the story of trot singer Lee Soo-na was featured. She shared her current life, which has been sustained since winning the 'Challenge Dream Stage' on KBS's 'Morning Yard.'
During the broadcast, Lee Soo-na introduced her family, saying, "Both of my parents have a level 1 intellectual disability, and I have two siblings who were born with disabilities." Currently, her parents reside in a nursing home, leaving her to live with and care for her sibling, who has the mental capacity of an 11-year-old.
She stated, "I have to play the role of a mother," adding, "I couldn't leave my sibling alone, so I brought them with me." After her divorce, Lee Soo-na has been responsible for her sibling and her two children.
Lee Soo-na also shared a painful family history. She recounted, "My father was very violent. My mother couldn't endure it and left home." A few years later, a stepmother came into the picture, and two siblings with intellectual disabilities were born. After her grandparents passed away, relatives began exploiting her for labor. Lee Soo-na then moved to Seoul with just a guitar, determined to earn money.
She expressed a desire to find her biological mother, whom she hasn't seen in 40 years, saying, "When I was taking care of my family, my mother contacted me, saying she was at Seoul Station and wanted to live with me. But I refused, thinking, 'Since she's not disabled, she can live anywhere.'"
Lee Soo-na emotionally confessed, "I want to tell my mom that I understand her. As I live my life, I only feel her absence. If I meet her, I want to hug her just once. I love you," leaving viewers touched.
