Chef Lim Sung-geun Pleads for Family Amidst Backlash Over Criminal Record
Lim met with reporters on the 21st in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Previously, he admitted on YouTube to three DUI incidents over a decade. However, it was later revealed that he had four DUI offenses, one instance of driving without a license during probation, and involvement in mutual injury or assault. Lim explained, "I didn't intend to deceive; I relied on inaccurate memories when I mentioned three times," acknowledging his six criminal offenses.
Addressing suspicions of a 'preemptive confession' following media inquiries, Lim stated, "I'm not a professional broadcaster, and the overwhelming attention from 'Black and White Chef 2' scared me," adding, "I felt compelled to disclose this to the production team during a YouTube shoot."
As public criticism of Lim grows, his family has also been dragged into the spotlight. Lim expressed, "The wrongs I've committed are solely mine. My wife is not that kind of person, and what would my young granddaughter know? The barrage of negative comments makes it hard for us to hold our heads up." He continued, "I've advised my family to avoid social media. My 4-year-old granddaughter wouldn't understand. I never imagined that a photo of her, posted out of affection, would become a target of criticism." Lim concluded, "I accept the criticism directed at me. I am at fault. But please stop the attacks on my family."
