Chef Lim Sung-geun's TV Appearances Canceled Following DUI Confession
On the 29th, JTBC announced, "Lim Sung-geun's appearance on 'Knowing Bros,' which was scheduled for February, has been canceled." They added that other guests, including Chun Sang-hyun, Lee Moon-jung (known as the Witch of Chinese Cuisine), and Yoon Na-ra (the Liquor Master), will proceed with the recording as planned.
Chef Lim revealed his DUI history on his YouTube channel on the 18th, stating, "I have driven under the influence about three times over a span of 10 years. I would often sleep in my car after drinking, but was caught by the police while asleep and explained the situation." He mentioned that these incidents occurred around 10 years ago, with the most recent being 5-6 years ago.
He continued, "There is no excuse for my wrongdoing and mistake of driving under the influence. I deeply regretted it at the time and accepted the legal consequences. Over the past few years, I have taken time to reflect on myself." He added, "I sincerely apologize once again for disappointing everyone with my careless actions."
KBS's 'New Release, Pyeonstorang' has canceled Lim's scheduled recording. With 'Knowing Bros' also announcing a cancellation, it appears Lim is facing a de facto exit from the broadcasting industry.
