Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung Shine in Netflix's 'Can This Love Be Translated?'
Released on the 16th, 'Can This Love Be Translated?' is an unpredictable romantic comedy that follows multilingual interpreter Joo Ho-jin, played by Kim Seon-ho, as he becomes the interpreter for global superstar Cha Moo-hee, portrayed by Go Youn-jung.
Kim Seon-ho takes on the role of Joo Ho-jin, a skilled interpreter fluent in six languages, including English, Japanese, and Italian, yet clumsy in the language of love. He portrays Ho-jin with depth, showing his serious side as a professional while also capturing his cautious nature in his relationship with Moo-hee.
At the production press conference, Kim Seon-ho shared, "The script required me to use four languages: Japanese, English, Italian, and Korean. I spent about four months studying to convey emotions and understand grammar." As a dedicated interpreter, he also focused on voice acting, saying, "I drank a lot of warm tea to care for my voice."
This project marks the first collaboration between Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung. Reflecting on their experience, Go Youn-jung said, "It was my first time meeting him, but I only have fond memories from filming. Watching him act, I thought, 'I hope I can act like that when I gain more experience.' He seemed to enjoy acting, and I learned a lot by observing and following him."
Kim Seon-ho responded, "Not only the actors but also the staff approached us warmly and openly. Go Youn-jung is such a talented actress that it's embarrassing to hear her praise. She absorbed everything quickly and had a great sense, which helped lead the scenes well."
The duo also shared anecdotes from their overseas shoots. With filming locations in Japan, Canada, and Italy, Kim Seon-ho noted, "Working and filming abroad made us rely on each other a lot."
