Jang Shin-young Wins Best Actress Award at 2025 MBC Drama Awards

Actress Jang Shin-young has claimed the Best Actress Award in the Daily Drama & Single Drama category.

The '2025 MBC Drama Awards' took place on the 30th at the MBC Media Center Public Hall in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The event was hosted by broadcaster Kim Sung-joo and actress Lee Sun-bin.

Nominees for the Best Actress Award in the Daily Drama & Single Drama category included Shim Yi-young for 'Kind Seonju', Jang Shin-young for 'The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun', and Choi Jung-yoon for 'Kind Seonju'. Ultimately, the honor went to Jang Shin-young.

Taking the microphone to express her gratitude, Jang Shin-young said, "I am deeply thankful to the director who supported me throughout the drama, encouraging me during the long shoots. I also want to thank the writer of 'The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun' for crafting such a wonderful script despite the challenges."

She continued, "I don't know if the director is watching right now. I was yearning to act, and you gave me the character Baek Seol-hee, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the role. I am incredibly grateful. To our staff who worked tirelessly for nearly a year, I want to express my heartfelt thanks." 'The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun' marks Jang Shin-young's return to acting following her husband Kang Kyung-joon's affair scandal. Her brief mention of her family watching from home was particularly poignant.

In closing, Jang Shin-young shared, "Working alone on a long project was daunting. I often wondered how I could carry such a lengthy drama by myself. During this time, a gift came into my life—my manager, Yeon-kyung. While I only need to focus on memorizing lines and acting, I couldn't have done it alone. Yeon-kyung has been my support and encouragement, and I want to share this award with her."
