Actor Go Kyu-pil Shares Behind-the-Scenes Stories with Director Bong Joon-ho on 'YouTube Haji-young'
In the video released on the 'YouTube Haji-young' channel on the 3rd, Go Kyu-pil is seen enjoying grilled pork belly with Ha Ji-young, revealing his charming personality through their candid conversation under the theme '82talk.'
During the episode, Go Kyu-pil shared behind-the-scenes stories from his audition and filming experience with director Bong Joon-ho for the movie 'Mother.' Reflecting on his time working with the acclaimed director, he expressed, "When I worked with Director Bong Joon-ho, it felt like I had the whole world." He recounted the intense audition process that lasted 4-5 hours and the personal casting offer he received from the director.
He also shared a touching story about the filming set, where director Bong Joon-ho provided a chair with Go Kyu-pil's name on it, at a time when there weren't enough seats for new and supporting actors. Go Kyu-pil expressed his gratitude, saying, "That chair boosted my self-esteem. I felt like I could do anything." Ha Ji-young commented, "Masters are different," highlighting the director's respect for all actors by providing chairs for everyone.
The episode also featured a balance game revealing Go Kyu-pil's preferences and acting philosophy. When asked to choose between 'realistic boyfriend role vs. crazy villain role,' he chose the realistic boyfriend role, humorously responding to Ha Ji-young's mention of the movie 'Temperature of Love' with, "Would they cast me for that?" On the question of 'luck vs. effort,' he acknowledged, "Luck is very important," showcasing his realistic perspective. Go Kyu-pil shared his aspiration to remain unchanged and continue acting joyfully for a long time.
