Soul-Swapping Drama: Kang Tae-oh and Kim Se-jeong's Unexpected Twist in 'The Moon Flows Over the River'
In the fourth episode of MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'The Moon Flows Over the River' (directed by Lee Dong-hyun, written by Jo Seung-hee), which aired on the 15th, the intertwined destinies of Lee Kang (played by Kang Tae-oh) and Park Dal-i (played by Kim Se-jeong) reached a dramatic climax as their souls swapped, capturing viewers' attention. This soul-swapping ending left a strong impression, with ratings peaking at 5.5% according to Nielsen Korea.
As Lee Kang, who had been shot, traveled to Hanyang with Park Dal-i, the attacks targeting the crown prince continued, heightening the tension. Kim Woo-hee (played by Hong Soo-joo), the daughter of Left State Councilor Kim Han-cheol (played by Jin Goo), conspired with Han Seok-won (played by Ji Il-joo), a member of the Grand Queen Dowager's (played by Nam Gi-ae) faction, to make Lee Woon (played by Lee Shin-young) the crown prince. Knowing that his death could endanger everyone, Lee Kang fought to survive.
With the protection of Left Guard Oh Shin-won (played by Kwon Joo-seok) and the help of Park Dal-i, known throughout the eight provinces, Lee Kang safely arrived in Hanyang. Upon reaching the palace, Lee Kang quickly resolved the chaos and rewarded Park Dal-i generously for saving him.
Park Dal-i, adorned in fine clothes and jewelry sent by Lee Kang, enjoyed her newfound luxury with a bright smile. Their long-awaited gukbap date also took place, delighting viewers. Lee Kang, reluctant to part ways after the meal, invited Park Dal-i to stay for the fireworks, hinting at his enjoyment of their time together.
However, their peaceful time was short-lived as Park Dal-i got caught up in a commotion, causing tension between her and Lee Kang. Seeing Park Dal-i being humiliated for resembling the deceased crown princess, Lee Kang's harsh words wounded her deeply.
To make matters worse, Kim Woo-hee intervened, escalating the situation. She accused Park Dal-i of being a traitor and threatened her with a knife, which Lee Woon stopped. Blood flowed from Park Dal-i's neck, and Lee Kang, noticing Lee Woon's affection, silently grasped the blade, casting a chilling gaze at Kim Woo-hee.
At that moment, the scar on Park Dal-i's wrist began to glow painfully. Startled, they both fell into the river, and as their blood mixed in the water, their severed connection began to mend.
When they regained consciousness, Lee Kang and Park Dal-i found themselves in each other's bodies, shocking them. Lee Kang exclaimed, "How can a crown prince swap bodies with a lowly porter?" while Park Dal-i panicked, leaving viewers curious about the cause of this mysterious event.
The role-reversal romance of Crown Prince Kang Tae-oh and porter-turned-prince Kim Se-jeong continues every Friday and Saturday at 9:40 PM on MBC's 'The Moon Flows Over the River.'
