Park So-hyun Reflects on 26 Years as Host of 'Capture the Moment': A Journey of Growth and Gratitude

Born in 1971 and debuting in the entertainment industry in 1993, Park So-hyun has been a prominent figure as the host of 'Capture the Moment' for 26 years. Recently, she shared anecdotes from her time on the show.

On October 4th, Park So-hyun's remarks resurfaced on social media. She appeared on the MBC variety show 'Radio Star' on September 29th, where she spoke about her relationship with co-host Lim Sung-hoon. Park expressed her gratitude, saying, "If I hadn't met Lim Sung-hoon, I wouldn't be who I am today. He was the best supporter and partner."

Park recalled, "I started hosting the program in my 20s. At that time, the speaking ratio was about 8 to 2, favoring male hosts. Male MCs would sometimes hold hands or step on feet to take lines from female MCs." She continued, "However, Lim Sung-hoon would pass lines to me, saying it would be better for a younger voice to read them. Thanks to him, we achieved a 5 to 5 balance, allowing me to grow as an MC."

She added, "For 26 years, Lim Sung-hoon never called me 'So-hyun-ah.' He always addressed me as 'Ms. So-hyun.' On the last broadcast, he called me 'So-hyun-ah' for the first time, saying, 'You did well, thank you,' which brought me to tears."

Park So-hyun led the SBS show 'Capture the Moment' from 1998, hosting a total of 1,279 episodes. She revealed, "Initially, being an MC was unfamiliar and daunting since I was an actress. But I decided to take on the challenge after hearing it might only last six months." The program continued with Lim Sung-hoon and Park So-hyun as hosts for 26 years, concluding its run in May of last year.

Park confessed, "I heard about the show's cancellation four months in advance, but it didn't feel real at first. The day before the final recording, I was overwhelmed with tears while preparing my farewell speech." She reminisced, "During the last recording, all the past producers who had been with us from the first episode came with flowers. It was a movie-like scene I'll remember for the rest of my life."
