Actor Kim Hyung-mook Shines as 'Alien' on SBS's 'Star Talk: Report Report Report'
Kim appeared as the first guest on the premiere episode of SBS's 'Star Talk: Report Report Report' on the 23rd.
He portrayed an alien who arrived on Earth before hosts Lee Yong-jin and Nucksal. Introducing himself with "I've been training my voice for 30 years," he claimed to possess 'human transformation skills,' drawing attention. He showcased characters like 'Chef Woo-gon' from 'The Tyrant's Chef' and 'Toto' from 'Vincenzo,' setting the tone for the show.
He shared his preparation process for the role of Woo-gon in 'The Tyrant's Chef,' revealing his intense effort to perfect Chinese pronunciation and how he brought a Chinese teacher to the set to complete ad-lib lines.
Kim Hyung-mook spoke about the years of perseverance it took to become a renowned actor. As his anonymity prolonged, he considered studying musical theater at prestigious art schools in the UK and the US. However, his passion for acting led him to abandon those plans and return to acting. His dedication, even for a single scene, began to gain attention with the drama 'Whisper.'
He also shared behind-the-scenes stories from the film 'No Choice.' The fact that this veteran actor auditioned and secured a role surprised many. He expressed his unique passion for acting, saying, "I prepare 10 to 20 different performances for a single role."
The hosts were amazed by his passion, joking, "You could probably play an alien role too." However, they teased him, saying, "It seems you only prepared one 'alien' performance for this program." When Nucksal pointed out that his alien language was borrowed from old catchphrases, Kim humorously replied, "I should have done it like BTS."
Meanwhile, Kim Hyung-mook will meet audiences in December with the Korean premiere of the Broadway musical 'Sugar.' In this production, he will play the role of Jerry, who disguises himself as a woman in a crisis, showcasing both comedic and human charm.
