Big Bang's Daesung Hosts 2nd Generation Idols on YouTube Show 'Jipdaesung'

Big Bang's Daesung recently welcomed fellow 1989-born idols Jo Kwon of 2AM, Jung Yong-hwa of CNBLUE, and Sungkyu of INFINITE to his YouTube channel 'Jipdaesung' for an honest and relatable conversation.

The episode, titled 'Going Back to 2010,' featured the idols discussing the lack of an official gathering for their birth year despite many 1989-born artists in the industry. Daesung expressed his hopes for the meeting to foster closer relationships, praising the talents and personalities of the '89 line. However, Jung Yong-hwa humorously pointed out that Daesung needed to open up more, leading to laughter as Daesung admitted to having little contact with his peers.

Daesung also shared his limited experience in variety shows, confessing that he had never participated in 'Idol Star Athletics Championships' (ISAC), surprising Jo Kwon and Sungkyu. Daesung explained that ISAC started after Big Bang's peak activity, but Jung Yong-hwa jokingly suggested that Big Bang's status exempted them from attending.

Jo Kwon and Sungkyu agreed, with Jo Kwon humorously suggesting that Daesung was the one missing out on meeting them. The conversation shifted to Daesung's variety show experiences, where he cited 'Night After Night' as particularly challenging due to the strong personalities of his co-stars.

The idols also bonded over the pressures they faced as vocalists in their generation. Jung Yong-hwa recalled the intense need to prove themselves and shared an anecdote about practicing hard for an unexpected 'Arirang' performance at a K-pop concert.

Daesung criticized the competitive nature of music shows like 'Music Bank,' where collaborations often felt like vocal battles. Jung Yong-hwa and Jo Kwon, both former 'Inkigayo' MCs, reminisced about the challenges of memorizing scripts without teleprompters, sharing behind-the-scenes stories that highlighted their shared experiences as 2nd generation idols.
