Why Did Go Hyun-jung's Character Seek Out Her Daughter-in-Law in 'Mantis: The Murderer's Outing'?

After Jeong I-shin's arrest 23 years ago, her son Cha Soo-yeol, played by Jang Dong-yoon, has lived denying his bloodline. He erased his past, especially anything related to Jeong I-shin, before marrying Lee Jeong-yeon, who believed Jeong I-shin was dead. However, Jeong I-shin's sudden appearance in front of Lee Jeong-yeon, amid strong suspicions of killing Seo Gu-wan, a prime suspect in a copycat 'Mantis' murder, adds a new layer of intrigue.

In the photos, Jeong I-shin is seen inside Cha Soo-yeol and Lee Jeong-yeon's home, sitting on the sofa with a blank expression, intensifying curiosity and unease. Lee Jeong-yeon appears startled by the unexpected situation, her eyes wide open. Given that Lee Jeong-yeon recently began to suspect Jeong I-shin's survival, the scene carries significant weight.
Attention is also drawn to Jeong I-shin's motives. Previously, she showed a keen interest in Lee Jeong-yeon during conversations with Cha Soo-yeol. When Seo Gu-wan mentioned Lee Jeong-yeon's name, Jeong I-shin reacted violently, choking Seo Gu-wan. She told Cha Soo-yeol, "It has to end now, she knows everything," with a crazed look in her eyes. The reason behind Jeong I-shin's escape from confinement to seek out Lee Jeong-yeon is a focal point of interest.
The production team of 'Mantis: The Murderer's Outing' stated, "Episode 5 will reveal the conversation between Jeong I-shin and Lee Jeong-yeon. This will uncover why Jeong I-shin sought out Lee Jeong-yeon. The scene is rich with complex emotions, and both Go Hyun-jung and Kim Bo-ra deliver meticulous and profound performances. The production team watched the encounter between Jeong I-shin and Lee Jeong-yeon with bated breath, and we ask for much interest and anticipation for the incredible focus and acting of Go Hyun-jung and Kim Bo-ra."
'Mantis: The Murderer's Outing' episode 5 airs on the 19th at 9:50 PM.
