Actor and Singer Yang Dong-geun Appointed as Goodwill Store Ambassador

The appointment ceremony took place on the 15th at Lotte Cinema in Jamsil, following the screening of the film 'King of Kings.' Yang Dong-geun personally rented all 132 seats to invite both disabled and non-disabled employees of Goodwill Store, offering them a free viewing opportunity. After the screening, a stage greeting and the ambassador appointment ceremony were held.
Yang Dong-geun decided to take on the ambassador role due to his alignment with the values and vision of Goodwill Store. The organization receives donations of unused or new items from citizens and businesses, selling them to employ disabled individuals, thus promoting their social participation and independence.
As an ambassador, Yang Dong-geun plans to engage in various campaigns and volunteer activities to improve awareness of disabilities and promote a culture of sharing through Goodwill Store.
This appointment is rooted in Yang Dong-geun's consistent philanthropic efforts. Known for his interest in charity and volunteer work, he participated in volunteer activities in Africa with his wife in 2019. In 2022, he donated 10 million won and a drawing by his then 6-year-old daughter Joy to support victims of the Ukraine war. In 2023, he contributed another 10 million won for earthquake relief in Turkey and Syria.
Han Sang-wook, head of the Goodwill division, expressed gratitude, stating, “We deeply appreciate Yang Dong-geun for joining us as an ambassador to widely promote Goodwill Store's activities, which provide stable employment for the disabled. We hope that our collaboration with Yang Dong-geun will open more opportunities for independence for many disabled individuals.”
Yang Dong-geun shared his thoughts, saying, “I was deeply moved by Goodwill Store's efforts to provide jobs and realize social value for the disabled and vulnerable groups. As an ambassador, I hope to spread the positive influence of Goodwill Store and contribute, even in a small way, to sharing the meaning of giving and independence with many people.”
Meanwhile, Goodwill Store operates under the slogan 'Providing Opportunities, Not Charity, to the Disabled,' and since the opening of its Songpa branch in 2011, it has expanded to 45 locations nationwide, providing jobs to approximately 500 disabled individuals.
