DAY6 Reflects on Unexpected Chart Resurgence After Military Service

The band DAY6 recently shared their surprise at their music's unexpected resurgence on the charts.

On the YouTube show 'Salon Drip 2' released on the 2nd, members Sungjin and Wonpil made an appearance.

During the show, host Jang Do-yeon asked, "After completing your military service, your popularity suddenly surged. Did you expect this?" Both Sungjin and Wonpil replied in unison, "We didn't expect it." Sungjin further explained, "While in the military, I spent a lot of time thinking about my future. I knew I wanted to continue in this field and could make a living, but I also felt the need to have a backup plan just in case."

He recalled the time when their song 'You Were Beautiful' climbed the charts again, saying, "After being discharged, things felt strange. I'm someone who needs preparation, and I thought, 'This is a big deal,' because I wasn't mentally ready." Wonpil added, "I never doubted our music. Although I didn't expect this outcome, I always had confidence. It turns out we were right. The path we took wasn't wrong," he said with a smile.

Jang Do-yeon also inquired about their financial concerns, to which Sungjin candidly responded, "I did have some." Wonpil agreed, saying, "That's true." Sungjin shared, "On a personal note, I considered having a side job. I wanted to continue with DAY6 and didn't want to erase those memories. I thought I needed a primary source of income to keep going." Jang Do-yeon concluded, "It's fortunate that you can focus solely on your music now."
