Im Song-jae is portrayed as a childhood friend of Lee Heon (played by Lee Chae-min) and a powerful figure in the Gyeonggi Province government, known for his ruthless authority. His reputation is such that there's a saying, 'Cross Im Bu-ja and you're on the road to ruin.' His charismatic presence as a notorious figure set the tone for the drama from his first appearance.

In the episode, Song-jae engages in a tense power struggle with Yeon Ji-young (played by Im Yoon-ah), who is captured by the Gyeonggi government. Known for wielding power through meals, Song-jae inspects Ji-young's dinner and dismisses her as a 'brazen woman', showcasing his intimidating presence. Despite recognizing the 'heavenly taste' of her food, he conceals his admiration and orders her punishment, revealing his cold and calculating nature.

Oh Eui-shik brought Im Song-jae to life with sharp eyes and solid acting skills. Particularly in the scene where he coldly threatens Hong Kyung-dal's (played by Jeon Jae-hong) granddaughter, he displayed a chilling demeanor, while showing a sycophantic smile in front of Lee Heon, creating a multi-dimensional character. His subtle facial expressions hinted at the character's inner thoughts, piquing viewers' curiosity and raising anticipation for Im Song-jae's future actions.

'The Tyrant's Chef', featuring Oh Eui-shik, airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 PM on tvN.
