Netflix's 'I Am a Survivor' Faces Legal Hurdles Ahead of Release
Jo Sung-hyun, the director of 'I Am a Survivor,' shared his thoughts on the recent injunction request to halt the broadcast.

On the 13th, a press conference for the Netflix documentary series 'I Am a Survivor' was held at CGV I'Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Jo Sung-hyun, known for his work on 'I Am God,' 'PD Notebook,' 'DMZ The Wild,' and 'Human Documentary Love,' attended the event.

'I Am a Survivor' is the follow-up to the 2023 release 'I Am God.' The series covers four shocking incidents that shook South Korea, presented over eight episodes, and is set to premiere on the 15th.

During the event, Director Jo expressed his concerns, saying, "I was worried all the way here about the possibility of not being able to release on August 15th. I hope everyone will be able to see the broadcast."

Last month, on the 29th, JMS filed an injunction with the Seoul Western District Court against MBC and Netflix to prevent the broadcast. On the 12th, a hearing was held regarding the injunction request filed by a former JMS member and the JMS Congregation Union against MBC and Netflix.

Director Jo stated, "The results are still pending. Three injunction requests have been filed before the broadcast. I don't understand why there is such a strong effort to block the broadcast. This indicates that the release is very uncomfortable for some. It's something everyone should know about," adding, "I trust the South Korean courts. I have no doubt they will make a fair judgment."

Meanwhile, 'I Am a Survivor' is scheduled to be released on the 15th.
