Moon Hee-jun Opens Up About H.O.T. Era and Personal Struggles on 'Four-Person Dining Table'
Moon Hee-jun revealed why he hesitates to talk about his H.O.T. days on 'Four-Person Dining Table'.
On the episode aired on the 28th on Channel A's 'Best Friends Documentary – Four-Person Dining Table', actor Kim Jung-tae was featured alongside singer Moon Hee-jun, former baseball player Kim Byung-hyun, and MC Park Kyung-lim.
Moon Hee-jun visited Kim Jung-tae's Seoul home, which is used for work purposes apart from his family residence in Busan. The Seoul house was previously occupied by novelist Hwang Seok-young.
Moon Hee-jun expressed his surprise to Kim Byung-hyun, whom he became close with after appearing on a quiz show with their children, saying, "At first, I didn't know his age. My kids called him 'hyung' (older brother), but it turns out he was born in 1979," expressing his playful dissatisfaction.

Born in 1978, Moon Hee-jun clarified, "I don't have any friends born in early 1979," and demanded, "Choose between 'ssi' or 'hyung' for addressing me." Kim Byung-hyun humorously responded with "hyung-ssi," causing laughter.
Recalling his SM audition, Moon Hee-jun boasted, "I've never lost to anyone in my life. I won first place in dance competitions and passed the SM audition as the top candidate. When I showcased my impersonation skills, Lee Soo-man said, 'That's fun, keep going.' Later, he whispered to me, 'You're in,' and I started training the next day."

Regarding his time with the first-generation idol group H.O.T., Moon Hee-jun shared, "We always competed for rankings on music shows. I lost twice, but never to Sechs Kies. After a loss, I would analyze why and double my practice."
He continued, "Being an idol is a beautiful memory, but I try not to talk about it on shows. If those times come to mind, I can't enjoy variety shows comfortably. It leaves me feeling empty afterward."

Moon Hee-jun confessed, "I didn't know emptiness until before H.O.T.'s debut. Listening to fans' cheers, then going home, I would hear ringing in my ears. The echoes of the cheers lingered, and I felt a deep loneliness entering my home." He added humorously, "Now, my wife (Soyul) yells for me, so it's okay."
Meanwhile, the iconic first-generation K-pop group H.O.T. is set to headline the 'Hanteo Music Festival' at Seoul World Cup Stadium on September 6-7, marking their first full group performance in six years.
