Actor Oh Jung-se Reflects on Villain Role and Criticism in 'Good Boy'
Actor Oh Jung-se has shared his thoughts on the criticism regarding the early reveal of his villain character in the drama.

On the 17th, an interview was conducted with Oh Jung-se at the Prain TPC building in Gangnam, Seoul. Oh is starring in JTBC's weekend drama 'Good Boy'.

'Good Boy' tells the story of former national medalist athletes who are reassigned to a special crime investigation team to tackle various crimes. Oh Jung-se plays the role of Min Joo-young, a character who hides behind the mask of a diligent customs officer while secretly leading a criminal empire involved in illegal activities such as used car, drug, and arms trafficking.

Reflecting on the atmosphere on set, Oh Jung-se said, "It was always a cheerful set. Despite the emotional and physical challenges, everyone was smiling before and after the shoots." When asked if he felt isolated from the 'Good Boy' team due to his antagonist role, he replied, "I was a bit envious but enjoyed it. Seeing them happy and having fun was motivating. I didn't intentionally distance myself on set."

In 'Good Boy', Oh Jung-se's villain character is revealed from the first episode. This led to the 'Good Boy' team knowing he was the culprit but being unable to legally apprehend him, resulting in a cycle of capture and release. Addressing the criticism of the plot's pacing, Oh Jung-se commented, "As a viewer, I felt that if the bad guy was caught, it would be over, but the ongoing struggles felt more realistic. It's not easy to bring a villain to justice, which made it seem more true to life."

Reflecting on the conclusion of 'Good Boy', Oh Jung-se expressed, "It feels like completing a difficult assignment. I hope viewers find satisfaction in the villain's defeat by the end." Regarding praise for his performance, he humbly added, "I don't expect compliments, but I'm grateful if they come. I tend to feel awkward when praised."
