Netflix Announces New Series 'Variety' Starring Son Ye-jin and Jo Yu-ri

Netflix has confirmed the production of a new series titled 'Variety' and revealed the casting of Son Ye-jin and Jo Yu-ri.

'Variety' is a Netflix series that unfolds the ambitions and desires surrounding Sae-eun, the head of an entertainment company that has produced South Korea's top idol group, and Seung-hee, an obsessive fan who follows them. The series promises a dynamic exploration of these characters and their world.

Directed and written by Kim Yong-hoon, known for his acclaimed work on the Netflix series 'Mask Girl' and the film 'Beasts Clawing at Straws', 'Variety' is set to captivate audiences once again. Kim's signature style of blending striking visuals with gripping crime drama storytelling will delve into the glamorous yet complex world of the K-POP entertainment industry, exposing the diverse human characters and their desires.

Son Ye-jin takes on the role of Sae-eun, a top entertainment executive in South Korea. Sae-eun is a character who makes cold decisions for her goals and is willing to risk everything for the re-signing of the idol group she nurtured. Known for her ability to embody her characters, Son Ye-jin is expected to portray Sae-eun's ambitious and glamorous side, as well as her emotional extremes in unexpected situations.

Jo Yu-ri, who gained recognition as an actress through 'Squid Game' Seasons 2 and 3, will play Seung-hee, the obsessive fan. Seung-hee is a character who will stop at nothing to meet her favorite idol member, following their every move. Jo Yu-ri's fresh and impactful performances have raised curiosity about how she will portray Seung-hee's twisted obsession. The series will also feature a mix of veteran and new actors, heightening anticipation for the dynamic ensemble cast.
