'Around the World 4' Breaks Viewership Records as Dex Bids Farewell

MBC's variety show 'Around the World 4' (also known as '태계일주4') has set a new viewership record as Dex concludes his journey on the show. The seventh episode featured the trio's adventure to a Naxi village nestled in the mountains of the Ancient Tea Horse Road.

The episode achieved a 5.9% viewership rating in the metropolitan area and 5.4% nationwide, marking the highest ratings for the fourth season. The 2049 demographic rating, crucial for advertisers, also hit a season-high of 3.0%. The peak minute viewership soared to 7.4%, with the highlight being Kian84's humorous moment of boasting about his connection with G-Dragon, only to admit it was a broadcast capture, leading to a heartfelt apology.

The trio savored the unique 'dried rib hot pot' in Lijiang, Yunnan Province, a dish that intrigued viewers with its unusual appearance and taste. Kian84's unconventional eating style, biting into ribs and wrapping them in a lettuce wrap, added to the entertainment.

The journey continued with a road trip to the Naxi village, fulfilling Lee Si-eon's bucket list. Despite the treacherous roads with sharp curves and falling rocks, Pani Bottle showcased impressive driving skills.

The Naxi village, deep within the Ancient Tea Horse Road, retained its traditional lifestyle, using mules for transportation. The ancient village scenery and unique house structures captivated viewers. Kian84 explored the village with Naxi sisters, enhancing the immersive experience.

A surprising revelation occurred when Pani Bottle met the village elder, 'Dongpa,' who, using traditional astrology, revealed Pani Bottle had a girlfriend. This unexpected disclosure left Jang Do-yeon and Han Hye-jin in shock, while Pani Bottle coolly confirmed the relationship, earning admiration from Jang Do-yeon.

Lee Si-eon had a mishap, tripping while rushing to the lodge due to a bathroom emergency, startling everyone. Kian84, despite expressing impatience, showed his caring side by personally fetching Lee Si-eon for dinner, providing comic relief.

The trio was invited to dine at the Naxi sisters' home, where they learned about the large extended family structure, reminiscent of a drama scene, surprising viewers. Kian84, feeling at home, seamlessly blended into the rural setting, embodying the role of a visiting grandson.

The next day, the trio assisted the Naxi sisters with farming. During lunch, a traditional Naxi meal was served. Kian84 asked, "Do you know G-Dragon?" and upon learning the sisters were fans, he showed them a photo of himself with G-Dragon, which turned out to be a broadcast capture, causing laughter in the studio.
