So Ji-sub Stands Out in White at 'Square' Press Conference, Shares Insights on Action Scenes

On the 5th, a press conference for the Netflix series 'Square' was held at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel in Jangchung-dong, Seoul. Director Choi Sung-eun, along with actors So Ji-sub, Gong Myung, Choo Young-woo, Ahn Gil-kang, Jo Han-chul, and Lee Jun-hyuk, attended the event.
'Square' is a noir action series based on a webtoon of the same name. It follows the story of Ki-joon, who returns to the world of 'Square' after 11 years to uncover the truth behind his brother Ki-seok's death and seek revenge. So Ji-sub plays Nam Ki-joon, who disappeared 11 years ago and returns to avenge his brother.

So Ji-sub shared, "My character expresses more through actions and glances than words. I tried to fill in the gaps between the lines while acting." It's been 13 years since So Ji-sub last showcased his action skills, and he expressed his eagerness, saying, "I wanted to do well since it's been a while."
Demonstrating his dedication to action, So Ji-sub revealed, "I practiced action scenes before filming. Action is a significant part of 'Square.' While the director set the framework, we discussed various aspects. I even wrote notes to remember." He continued, "I wanted to avoid unnecessary action and differentiate between subduing and punishing during the revenge process. I believe action is a dialogue through the body. I wanted the character's emotions to be felt during fights. As the story progresses, I hoped the action would have a climax, and it seems it was captured well."
'Square' will be available on Netflix starting November 6th.
