i-dle’s Shuhua Reveals She Hired a Lawyer and Explored Other Agencies – Inside i-dle’s Contract Renewal Story

On the recent episode of JTBC's 'Knowing Bros,' the members of i-dle—Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Shuhua, and Yuqi—shared insights into their contract renewal process and the stories behind it.

The group humorously revealed, "We recently held a 'G' funeral," explaining that they were initially just 'i-dle' but became '(G)I-DLE' upon debut. They also disclosed an interesting fact: "There was a plan for a male version of i-dle. If we didn't succeed, they were going to debut a male group to make it work, but we succeeded, so that plan was scrapped."

Soyeon, who gained attention last November with her contract termination performance, shared, "The renewal process wasn't easy, but all five of us were united in our decision." Despite having a different contract timeline due to debuting earlier, Soyeon continued team activities after her contract ended.

When asked if she considered signing with another company, Miyeon candidly replied, "No, I just distanced myself from the company to avoid saying the wrong thing during negotiations."

Yuqi, who faced rumors of leaving the group, admitted, "I was never truly shaken, but the lengthy negotiation period made me waver due to financial offers from other companies."

Soyeon noted, "Yuqi was the one who insisted that it had to be all five of us." Miyeon added, "We decided to stay together as five, but we weren't sure if it would be with Cube Entertainment. A fortune teller we've known since we were young said we'd all renew together," bringing laughter to the set.

Shuhua, who even hired a lawyer, admitted, "I did look into other companies, but considering the members, I decided it was better to stay as a team."
