Netflix's 'The Great Escape Lodge': A New Reality Show Blending Chaos and Fantasy

Netflix is set to launch a groundbreaking reality show, 'The Great Escape Lodge,' blending chaos and fantasy in a unique guesthouse setting.

Premiering globally on April 8, 'The Great Escape Lodge' takes place at a whimsical guesthouse on Ulleungdo Island, where hosts Kian84, Jin, and Ji Ye-eun engage with guests in an extraordinary variety show. While nothing is as expected, the 'Kian-style' fun promises to deliver delightful laughter to viewers.

The intriguing lineup includes 'rookie' host Kian84, with BTS's Jin as the versatile employee and Kian84's mental support, and Ji Ye-eun, the passionate MZ generation member who even obtained a watercraft license for the show. Their chaotic guesthouse management is highly anticipated.

The teaser poster reveals the guesthouse floating in the middle of the Ulleungdo sea, with a front yard that resembles a theme park. Under the tagline 'Kian's Imagination Becomes Reality!' Kian84, Jin, and Ji Ye-eun are seen enjoying the lodge, sparking curiosity about the extraordinary stories they will create.

The teaser trailer hints at the birth of the 'Great Escape 5-Star' lodge, where Kian84's imagination comes to life. The guesthouse on the Ulleungdo sea defies norms from check-in, featuring a spectacular rock face instead of a door, and an unprecedented hands-on dining experience, amplifying curiosity about the 'Great Escape' parade. The anticipation builds for the services Kian84, Jin, and Ji Ye-eun will offer to their guests.

The show reunites director Jung Hyo-min and writer Yoon Shin-hye, known for pioneering the guesthouse variety genre with 'Hyori's Bed & Breakfast,' alongside Kian84, known for his raw honesty. Director Jung highlights, "'The Great Escape Lodge' is a chaotic reality show where unexpected situations become romantic adventures. It flows with 'Kian-style' thinking, where nothing imagined exists, and everything unimaginable does." Director Lee So-min adds, "Forget typical guesthouse expectations and embrace unpredictable 'Kian-style' situations to fully enjoy the lodge." 'The Great Escape Lodge' will be available exclusively on Netflix starting April 8. The series will release a total of 9 episodes over three weeks, beginning with three episodes in the first week, followed by three episodes each subsequent week.
