Musical Couple Kim So-hyun and Son Jun-ho Reveal Separate Financial Lives

Musical theater stars Kim So-hyun and Son Jun-ho, who have been married for 15 years, recently shared insights into their unique financial arrangement on the MBC show 'The Manager' aired on November 1st.

During the show, host Jun Hyun-moo confessed, "I made a mistake. I found out that Kim So-hyun is actually older than me. I used informal speech with her on several occasions, thinking she was younger." Jun Hyun-moo, born in 1977, is two years younger than Kim So-hyun, who was born in 1975. Kim So-hyun responded with a smile, "I didn't want to correct you because it made me feel younger." Her husband, Son Jun-ho, who is eight years her junior, added, "Isn't she beautiful?"

Kim So-hyun admitted, "The eight-year age gap was fine until my husband turned 40. Now, I don't like to mention it." Son Jun-ho humorously added, "She always says, 'I wish no one would ever know.'"

The couple's home was also showcased, featuring a spacious living room, cozy master bedroom, and stylish interior. Their son Joo-an's room was filled with books on economics, philosophy, humanities, and literature, reflecting his love for learning. His artwork adorned the walls throughout the house.

Kim So-hyun was seen preparing breakfast in a frilly, princess-style pajama, highlighting the couple's hands-on approach to household chores without any external help.

In their home, only the lights in the kitchen where Kim So-hyun was present were on, following Son Jun-ho's principle of "only turning on lights where necessary" to save energy. When Kim So-hyun mentioned feeling warm in her thin pajamas, Son Jun-ho asked if she had turned up the boiler, to which she replied she hadn't. Their manager noted, "Son Jun-ho even takes leftover snacks from catering. His frugality is impressive."

The couple has chosen to keep their finances separate. Kim So-hyun explained, "I started from zero and enjoyed watching my bank balance grow. My husband didn't have that experience, so we separated our finances to let him enjoy watching his savings increase." She added, "We don't know how much each other earns."

Kim So-hyun handles education and grocery expenses, while Son Jun-ho takes care of dining out, maintenance fees, and taxes. Jun Hyun-moo quipped, "No wonder he doesn't turn on the lights; he's paying the bills!"

Their luxurious apartment is located in the upscale neighborhood of Hannam-dong, Seoul, where celebrities like G-Dragon and BTS members RM and Jimin also reside. The couple purchased their 206.89㎡ (approximately 62 pyeong) apartment for 4.3 billion KRW, and its current market value is estimated at 13 billion KRW.
